Position Overview
Gaston Community Church (GCC) is a Christ-centered, Biblically based church in Gastonia, North Carolina. We are seeking a full-time Associate Pastor, reporting to the Senior Pastor and the Session, to help equip our congregation for ministry, with an emphasis on reaching unchurched people in our community. This position will be focused primarily, though not exclusively, on developing ministries for reaching young adults and young families.

Responsibilities
1. Personally and intentionally engage young adults and young families in our community with the gospel.
- Begin Small Group Bible study for young families in our church but also with focus on reaching unchurched people once integrated into Gaston County.
- Help our congregation become equipped and engaged in helping with ministries to infants.

2. Lead development of ministries for young adults and families, including children and teens, which facilitate building relationships.
- This is very similar to #1 above, but the focus here is that if there are young families with young children, but those families also have teens, that efforts would be make to develop some ministry with the teens as well. This could include having teens help with children ministries.

3. Plan local outreach opportunities that help our church demonstrate the love of Jesus to our community.
- This would include Small Groups above, but also initiating outreach missions in our area (such as a small VBS, or occasional weekend outreaches, that strategically engage the unchurched).

4. Work with the Senior Pastor to equip members to share the gospel with unbelievers and the unchurched in our community, with an emphasis on young adults and young families.
- Again, this one, along with #1- #3 are similar. The focus here is that working with the Senior Pastor, efforts would be made to do some strategic evangelism work, and also intentionality would be shown in equipping some of our church members for on-the-job equipping, practicing, and then engaging in evangelistic activities.

5. Support Senior Pastor and Elders with ministry responsibilities including preaching on Sunday mornings on a consistent basis, and teaching in various capacities.
- The Associate Pastor would preach at least once per month to begin with, and will also be encouraged to use teaching gifts through small groups, etc.

6. Regular attendance and participation in weekly Sunday morning worship services.
- When not preaching, the Associate Pastor will assist in other aspects of the order of worship.

7. Meet with the Senior Pastor on a weekly basis to pray, plan, and encourage one another.
8. Maintain weekly record of time spent in GCC ministry and submit report to the Session each month.
9. Attend monthly joint meeting of Elders and Deacons and monthly Session meeting.
