Small Group Offerings
for Fall 2024

GROUP 1: Stories of the Kingdom, by Alistair Begg

Leader: Danny Fickling
Meeting: Wednesday mornings at 10:00am (morning class)
Begins: Wednesday, September 11
Location: at the church

In a culture that is reluctant to embrace absolute truth, it can be convenient to marginalize who Jesus is and why He came to earth.  Like the rich young ruler, we may consider ourselves to be moral people with no need for a Savior.  We may never have been struck by the weight and gravity of God's coming judgement, driving us to consider our need for mercy.  In this series of messages from the Gospel of Mark, Alistair Begg shows us the necessity of knowing Christ as a gracious Savior, an eternal King, and the one who will ultimately judge the world in righteousness.
GROUP 2: The Apostle: A Life of Paul, by John Pollock

Leaders: Doug Stover
Meeting Night: Wednesdays at 6:30pm
Begins: Wednesday, September 11
Location: The Home of Doug and Susan Stover

The book masterfully combines careful adherence to biblical text, detailed research and a storyteller's gift to create a book equally relevant for both casual readers fascinated by Paul's life and also serious biblical scholars.
GROUP 3: The Search for Significance

Leader: Evan Musselwhite
Meeting Night: Wednesdays at 7:00pm
Begins: Wednesday, September 11
Location: at the church

The Search for Significance, by Robert S. McGee, is a study in seeing ourselves in light of who God has made us as result of His work in salvation, and not in light of our sin.  This is not a self-help book or a workbook on finding the beauty within yourself.  Rather, it is full of scripture as it shows us how to live boldly in the joy of God's love.  Some secular psychologists focus on self-worth with a goal of simply feeling good about ourselves.  A biblicial self-concept, however, goes far beyond that limited perspective.  It is an accurate perception of ourselves, God, and others based on the truths of God's word.  An accurate, biblical self-concept contains both strength and humility, both sorrow over sin and joy about forgiveness, a deep sense of our need for God's grace and a deep sense of the reality of God's grace.
GROUP 4: Multiply: Disciples Making Disciples by Francis Chan

Leaders: Bryan Allf, Gordon Quarles
Meeting Night: Wednesdays at 7:00pm
