Worship Leader Job Description
(October, 2025)
Overview
Gaston Community Church is a community of believers dedicated to glorifying God and enjoying Him forever. One of the ways we do it is through the Worship Service. The five statements below describe what we believe worship is about and how it influences our life together as a church family.
1. Worship is Doxological
Worship exists to glorify God, reflecting humanity’s ultimate purpose. GCC worship centers on exalting the Lord for who He is and what He has done, according to His revealed will.
2. Worship is Congregational
Worship is a communal act of the whole body of Christ. Services emphasize active participation through reading, singing, and teaching, highlighting that worship belongs to the gathered community.
3. Worship is Narrative
Worship tells the redemptive story of God—creation, fall, and redemption. Each element (songs, readings, prayers) fits into this storyline, inviting praise, confession, and thanksgiving in response to God’s saving work.
4. Worship is Holistic
True worship engages the whole person—mind, heart, will, and actions. It is neither purely intellectual nor merely emotional but involves all of life offered to God.
5. Worship Ends with Exultation
Encountering God in worship always produces joy. Genuine worship transforms believers, leading them to rejoice in who God is and what He has done in Christ.
The Worship Leader at Gaston Community Church serves as a steward of the church’s philosophy of worship, faithfully embodying and applying its principles in every aspect of his music ministry.
